The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz 1.5 diesel has been launched at a starting price of Rs. 9.97 lakh ex showroom Delhi. The new engine that has been developed by Maruti Suzuki in house has been a long time coming. This engine replaces the old 1.3 litre Fiat sourced diesel engine that has been doing duty in Maruti models for more than a decade now.

The new 1.5 litre diesel engine that is called the DDIS225 is a four cylinder turbo charged unit that develops 95 horsepower at 4000rpm and maximum torque of 225 Nm at 1500 – 2500 rpm. It has ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 26.82 kpl. The all aluminium engine now comes mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox and is BS VI ready.

The updated diesel model no longer gets the mild hybrid tech that was present on the earlier model.
