Mahindra XUV700 Interior
The interiors are nothing short of a game changer on the Mahindra XUV7OO. There are tons of features on offer, it’s a long list so brace on. The first thing you notice is the seamless twin 10.25” floating display screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster. The MX Series will get a conventional 7” instrument cluster and 8” infotainment system. After few minutes spent gazing the screen in awe you will notice the light leatherette upholstery. The Panoramic Sun Roof makes the cabin more airy and spacious and Mahindra says it is the largest in the segment. Hence their lingo for it is ‘Sky Roof’. The dashboard has soft touch areas and not for once we felt a touch of hard plastic. However, we felt the out-of–nowhere wood inserts in the door could have been avoided. The flat bottom steering wheel comes wrapped in leather and feels nice to hold. The piano black inserts add a nice touch. It has the usual telephone buttons, cruise control and menu toggle button.
The driver’s seat gets a memory seat function with power seat controls on the door. The driver seat also retracts when unlocked for easy in and out of the car experience. An important feature we must say. The center armrest slides and also a cooled storage area. In front of that are the two-cup holders. What’s missing is ventilated seats and for a SUV that is loaded with features, this is a big miss. So is the absence of an auto dimming inner ORVM. . The Co-Driver seat gets the slide feature that can be used from the 2nd row of the car to free up extra legroom for the rear passenger. Passenger seats aren’t electric. The middle row can easily fit 3 people; head and shoulder room is plenty. It also gets two air vents and Type C charging point. The middle row however doesn’t slide forward so that limits legroom at the very rear. The third row can accommodate two average height adults for short drive but they are best left for kids. The third row gets AC vents and 12V point, no USB/type C port there. Overall, the seats, fit finish and touch is excellent. We drove the car for 11.5 hours but didn’t feel tired at the end of the day.
The XUV7OO gets a Dual Zone Climate control and effective one at that. Behind the gear lever is the wireless charging pad. We were told its not a full time charging pad and can be switched off when not needed though there was no button next to it. We assume it can be through the infotainment settings menu. A simple On/Off button next to the pad would’ve been convenient. There is a smart developed space to keep a second cellphone above the pad. The same can be charged via two USB ports next to it. The blind spot camera will give a view of what’s there on either side before you change the lanes. In terms of convenience, the XUV7OO ticks most of the boxes.
