The long awaited Mahindra XUV700 has finally broken cover with a market launch slated for October later this year. The XUV700 is also the first product to wear the new Mahindra logo that will be the identity for the SUV portfolio of the car maker.
The XUV700 will be available in MX and AX variants. Prices for the base MX petrol start at Rs. 11.99 lakh for the petrol manual and Rs. 12.49 lakh for the base diesel manual. The the AX3 petrol manual will start from Rs 13.99 lakh, and AX5 petrol manual will cost Rs 14.99 lakh. The AX series will be available in AX3, AX5 and AX7 trims. It will be available 5 and 7 seater layouts. The revealed prices are for the 5 seater option.
As far as the design goes, the XUV700 gets a new grille design with vertical bars, new headlamps with C shaped DRLs integrating with the bumper, flush door handles, new angular tail lamps and diamond cut alloy wheels.
The interior has some significant highlights like twin 10.25 inch screens for the Adrenox infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. There is a new steering wheel with the new logo. The infotainment system gets built in Alexa for voice commands. The feature list across the model range includes, wirelesss Android Auto and Apple Car Play, auto booster headlamps, wireless charging, large panoramic sunroof (skyroof), dual zone climate control, six way power adjust for driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, electric parking brake and Sony 3D surround system. The XUV700 will also feature ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) which include Front Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Brakes.
The safety kit comprises of seven airbags, ABS with EBD, Driver Drowsiness Alert, custom voice safety warnings, 360 degree camera, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic recognition and smart pilot assist.
The Mahindra XUV700 will come with two engine options. There is a 2.0 turbo petrol from the mStallion family developing 200 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque. The diesel is 2.2 litre mHawk motor that will be available in two states of tune. In the entry level variant, it will make 155 hp and 360 Nm, while in the higher variants, it will develop 185 horsepower and 420 Nm torque (450 Nm in automatic). Both engines will get the option of a 6 speed manual or 6 speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. All Wheel Drive will be available as an option. The diesel engine also comes with four drive modes – Zip, Zap, Zoom and Custom.
The Mahindra XUV700 will rival the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and the MG Hector. It will also go up against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq.
