It is already a known fact that Mahindra is developing an electric version of the XUV300 compact SUV. It has now ben confirmed by Dr Pawan Goenka, managing director, Mahindra & Mahindra, that the Mahindra XUV300 EV will launch in the Indian market in 2021. The model will also be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020.
Code named S210, the Mahindra XUV300 EV will likely be powered by an electric motor developing 130 horsepower. A 40kWh battery pack will be capable of delivering a range of above 300km on a single charge. This however could be the high performance version as Dr. Goenka has said that there might two battery packs on offer.
The Mahindra XUV300 EV will support AC, as well as DC fast-charging capabilities. It will be the first product with battery cells developed exclusively for India applications by LG Chem, who is a Korean battery manufacturing company.
With different power outputs, the Mahindra XUV300 will be looking to compete wit the Tata Nexon EV that will launch in a few days. It will also rival the Hyundai Kona and the MG ZS EV with the high performance version.
Expect the XUV300 EV to be priced significantly higher than its IC engined variants.
