Mahindra Marazzo Interior
The interiors too have a sense of freshness to them. The black and beige treatment to the cabin gives the Marazzo a very airy feel and the dashboard too feels void of any clutter. The piano black finish on the dashboard looks good but can be reflective in the sunlight. The white design element on the passenger side of the dashboard feels a bit over done and the purple instrument cluster felt a little loud for my taste. That said, the dials are easy to read and the MID features a host of information. Get this, it can even store birthday, anniversary reminders of your loved ones and even the anniversary of your Marazzo, just incase you forget when you got your prized possession home. A cool feature that. The three spoke steering has a good feel and features the audio and phone controls. The controls for the AC seem taken from the XUV500 and overall quality of material is quite good.
The 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment is pretty slick and has good touch sensitivity apart from being easy to use. The home screen shows a shark fin rising from the sea and for a moment, I got a feeling that I was watching the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Jaws’. The infotainment system comes with Android Auto but Apple CarPlay has been given a miss. Navigation is also standard and works quite well. The parking brake that is aircraft inspired by Mahindra is not the easiest to use when disengaging it. I would have preferred a conventional one. That said, the Marazzo comes with a lot of storage spaces all around which include large door pockets and deep storage space on the dashboard as well.
Mahindra has done a fine job with the seats on the Marazzo. The front seats are large and support and offer excellent comfort. They get lumbar support too along with arm rests. At the rear, the seven seater variants get captain seats while the eight seater gets a full bench which splits in a 60:40 ratio. The middle row has good headroom, legroom and under thigh support. Even the third row can seat two adults and even though you sit in a knee up position, comfort is good enough to sit for a decent amount of time. The middle row passengers also get their own USB points. Another cool feature (pun intended) is the AC for rear passengers. The blower unit runs across the length of the car and features vents on the side. It also features a ‘diffuse’ mode that releases the air flow in a linear and slow manner.
The Marazzo however misses out on some features that we are now used to, at least in the range topping variant. These include push button start, keyless entry, auto dimming rear view mirror and lane change indicator. Ergonomically too, things could have been a bit better. The USB ports are placed really low below the gear console, the cup holders become in accessible with the front arm rests in place and you can’t access the rear bottle holders without opening the doors. Boot space with all rows up is 190 litres that can go up to a whopping 1,055 litres with last and middle rows folded. So if you are travelling with a full house, a luggage carrier on the roof is definitely recommended.
