Limited edition Porsche 911 R delivered in India
The limited Edition Porsche 911 R has finally reached Indian shores. The car was delivered by Porsche Centre Bengaluru to car collector Bhoopesh Reddy. The car will see a production run of only 991 units.
The Porsche 911 R is inspired by the classic 911 R from 1967, a homologated car for the road, which took part in rallies, the Targa Florio and in world record runs. It features a lightweight construct and tips the scales at just 1,370 kg making it the lightest version of the 911. The rear windshield and rear side windows consist of plastic. There is reduced insulation on the interior and the rear seat has been removed. Airconditioning and audio system have also been given the boot to reduce weight. They can however, be ordered as an optionThe Porsche 911 R features a 4.0 litre flat six nautrally aspirated engine in the rear. This engine is also see in the 911 GT3 RS. It develops 500 horsepower at 8250 rpm and maximum torque of 460 Nm at 6250 rpm. It goes from 0 to 100 kph in 3.8 seconds has a top speed of 323 kph. The 911 R gets a short shift six speed manual gearbox. It also gets a double-declutch function that can be activated via the press of a button. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are standard and you can opt for a front lift system that raises the front ground clearance by 30 mm, thus making it practical for daily use.
On the exterior, the Porsche 911 R features a bonnet and wings made of carbon and a roof made of magnesium. It gets a retractable rear spoiler and rear underbody diffuser that is specific to R models, The sports exhaust system is made from titanium and there is a redesigned front spoiler lip. There are Porsche logos on the side of the car and racing stripes in red or green that run across the middle section of the car from front to the rear.On the interior, the Posche 911 R features a full carbon driver’s seat with fabric centre panels in Pepita tartan design. There is a “R-specific” GT sport steering wheel with a diameter of 360 millimetres and an R-specific short gearshift lever. There are carbon fibre strips with an embedded aluminium badge on the front passenger’s side that shows the limited edition number of the 911 R. It also features pull straps as door openers.
