Ahead of ending the production run of its current generation Thar, Mahindra have announced a special edition to commemorate their legacy of 70 years in production.
The Thar 700, as it is called, shall be presented in a unique style that comprises of cosmetic updates both inside and outside the car. The highlights of this update are a unique shade of aquamarine paint scheme and a special plaque on the sides of the car bearing chairman Anand Mahindra’s signature. Other features include 5 spoke alloy wheels and black front grille design.
The front bumper sports a silver finish in the centre and this continues as decals towards the sides of the car to end into a mountain-like shape before the rear wheel arch to capture the spirit of offroading that the Thar is popular for. It also gets one piece of equipment: ABS, not found in the preceding units.
Towards the interior, fabric seats have been exchanged for more sporty leatherette upholstery with the word Thar emblazoned in full on the backrest.
The Thar 700 is scheduled for a production run of 700 units only as it is based on the current generation. It is poised to get replaced by the latest rendition that confirms to BS-6 standards.
It will retail at an ex-showroom price of INR 9.99 lakh.
