Lamborghini Urus launched in India at Rs 3 crore
The Lamborghini Urus has been launched in India at a price of Rs 3 crore ex-showroom.
The Urus is built on VW’s MLB platform that also underpins the Bentley Bentayga SUV. It features all the characteristics of a Lamborghini. Inspirations from the Raging Bull’s other super cars like the Aventador, Miura and Countach are visible. The styling comprises of sharp lines and highlights such as large air dams and a front splitter. The SUV is 5112 mm long, 2016 mm wide and 1638 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3003 mm. The Urus comes with the choice of 21 or 23 inch alloy wheels and Pirelli tyres specially developed for this SUV.
Other exterior details include a low roof line, frameless windows, LED headlamps with Y shaped LED DRLs, Y shaped tail lamps, rear diffuser and quad exhaust pipes.
The Urus ia powered by a 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine that develops 650 horsepower and 850 Nm of maximum torque. It does the 0 to 100 kpg dash in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 306 kph, making it the fastest SUV in the world. The engine comes mated to an eight speed automatic gearbox. The gearbox features a specially designed torque converter to boost engine response.
There are six driving modes to choose from. Apart from the Strada, Sport and Corsa modes seen on other Lamborghini supercars, the Urus additionally gets Neve (snow) and optional Terra (off-road) and Sabbia (sand) modes. The air suspension allows raising of ground clearance from 158 mm to 248 mm.
Four wheel drive is standard and the Urus features a Torsen self-locking differential. The 4×4 system sends maximum 70% torque to the front wheels and 87% to the rear. It also comes with rear wheel steering that is seen on the Aventador S.
On the interior, the Urus features the hexagonal theme as seen in its stablemates. There is a TFT screen for the instrument cluster along with a three spoke steering wheel. Other features include the Lamborghini infotainment system and 12 way electrically adjustable front seats with an 18 way option. It has a standard boot capacity of 616 litres with the option to fold down the rear seat.
The Urus has been sold out in India for 2018. So if you wish to get your hands on one, you will have to wait till 2019.
