Lamborghini Urus to debut at Shanghai Motor Show
The production spec Lamborghini Urus is expected to be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show 2017 to be held between 19-28 April. The original Urus concept was first introduced at 2012 Beijing Auto Show.
The Urus is Lamborghini’s second SUV since they made the LM002 between 1986 and 1993. The name ‘Urus’ is derived from the ancestor of modern domestic cattle, also known as the aurochs.
The Urus will be built on Audi’s MLB platform and will be powered by a 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 engine. A plug-in hybrid version, which will be a first for the super car maker will join the model range later.
The brand’s R&D chief, Maurizio Reggiani, said, “The design [of the Urus] is pure Lamborghini. It has evolved considerably since the [2015] concept and the finished car is much better inside and out.”
Special and limited edition versions of the Urus can also be expected. The Urus will be built at Lamborghini’s Sant’Agata Bolognese in Italy. The company is expanding its plant capacity in order to cope with increased demand.
The Urus will be the third model in the Lamborghini portfolio along side the Aventador and that Huracan.
