Jeep Compass Trailhawk Engine & Performance

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk comes powered by the 2.0 litre Multijet diesel engine that is now BS6 compliant. This engine can also run on BS 4 fuel. The motor churns out 170 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The engine is now more refined than before and the diesel clatter is hardly audible. Power delivery is also now more linear in this spec and there is good low end with power staying right up there in the higher power band too. The most significant addition here is the 9 speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The gearshifts are smooth though not the quickest around. There is a bit of confusion in choosing the right gear at lower speeds and gearbox was hesitating an upshift while going up inclines on some occasions as well. That said, the Trailkawk cruises smoothly in 9th gear at highway speeds with the tacho needle hovering around the 1500 – 1600 rpm mark. The gearbox also features the tip-tronic function to shift manually, but there are no paddle shifters or sports mode either.

Jeep Compass Trailhawk Ride & Handling

The ride quality of the Compass was already outstanding, and Jeep has now fine tuned the suspension to make it even better. The Compass Trailhawk just wallops over bad roads and potholes. It feels planted at any given time and steering feedback is better too. Pushing it hard into corners will result some understeer though.
