The Jaguar F-Pace is the company’s first SUV and is expected to launch in India during the festive season this year. The F-Pace was earlier showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. Jaguar is planning to launch the petrol F-Pace in India first. It will be powered by a 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine developing 237 bhp. The engine also does duty in the Jaguar XE sedan.
The Jaguar F-Pace will be sold in India as a fully imported CBU. Prices are expected to be in the region of Rs. 80 to 85 lakh ex showroom. While the Jaguar website displays specs of only the diesel model, the oil burner is expected to hit Indian showrooms at a later date.
The Jaguar F-Pace is based on the C-X17 concept and is built on the Lightweight Aluminium Architecture platform as the XE and XF sedans. It is 4,731 mm long, with a generous 2,874 mm wheelbase. There is a large front grille that is typical Jaguar, a muscular bonnet, full LED headlamps and forged 22 inch alloy wheels.
Coming to the interior, there is space to seat five people in absolute comfort thanks to a lots of headroom and kneeroom. The F-Pace gets the premium InControl Touch Pro infotainment system that comprises of a 10.2-inch touchscreen, with a powerful quad-core processor and solid-state drive, and runs on ultra-fast Ethernet. Up to eight devices can be connected to the vehicle’s super-fast wifi hotspot at one time. The navigation system offers true door-to-door guidance and can even advise others of your arrival time. Navigation can also be shown full-screen – in 3D – in the 12.3-inch HD virtual instrument cluster.
While the Jaguar F-Pace rivals the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, the German rivals offer petrol engines in only the performance models, the GLE 450 and X5M.
