Japanese automaker Isuzu recently announced the facelifted version of its pick-up SUV, the D-Max V-Cross. It has been launched in two trims, namely a Standard and a top spec Z variant, each of which retails for an introductory ex-showroom price of INR 15.51 lakh and INR 17.03 lakh respectively.
The car, which made quite a rage in the off-roading community, is powered by the original BS-4 compliant 2.5L engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, which produces 134 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The car features an elaborate off-road driving system, beginning from the iGRIP architecture that provides stability even at high speeds. The car has a potent four-wheel drive with various modes and on-the-go mode shift function. This is further enhanced by a high riding suspension that provides for a wider track and more ground clearance.
The facelift chiefly comprises of styling updates, though new equipment has also been deployed.
The exterior now gets an LED headlamp cluster with chrome garnish on the fog lamps. On the roof is a new roof rail design with a shark fin antenna. The pick-up features new running boards and chrome elements on the rear bumper with integrated reflectors. In addition to the available shade card, the car gets two new paint choices, namely Silky Pearl white and a very youthful Sapphire Blue, to appeal to the young demographics.
The interiors have also been refreshed: the all black cab gets re-profiled seats that feature perforated upholstery in the Z trim. The instrument cluster receives a 3D design and gearshift indication too. Piano black trim pieces add to the upscale look of the cabin that has quite a few features. These include a 7-inch touch enabled infotainment system with provision for DVD, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port, among other things.
In terms of safety, the car comes with ABS, EBD, Hill start assist and descent control, speed sensitive door locking, seat belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, and passenger seat-belt disengagement warning.
