Honda unveils Civic Concept
Honda has unveiled the Civic Concept at the 2015 New York Motor Show. This concept is a prelude to what will become the 10th generation Civic that will be launched in 2016.
The new Civic will be based on a new compact platform. It will also get a new 1.5 litre VTEC turbo engine from the company’s Earth Dreams Technology powertrain series and will have a choice of a 6 speed short shifting manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission.
Safety wise the new Civic will offer the Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies, including Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Multi-Angle Rearview Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control and Honda LaneWatch, along with Honda’s next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure.
The Civic Concept features a coupe styling. The aggressive front bumper features large air dams on either side. There is a single exhaust that is mounted in the center integrated into the rear bumper. The Concept gets LED headlamps and the tail lamp cluster runs end to end along the boot. The rear also gets a spolier mounted on the boot lid.
Development of both the sedan and coupe models of the new Civic is being led by a North American R&D team, with design led by a team from Honda’s Los Angeles design studio and development centered in the company’s Raymond, Ohio vehicle development center.
