Audi e-tron 55 quattro Powertrain, Performance & Drive
The e-tron 55 quattro gets a 95kW battery that powers two electric motors mounted on the front and rear axles respectively. They put out a combined output of 355 horsepower and 561 Nm torque, while in Boost mode it puts out 402 horses and 664 Nm of torque. Audi claims a 0 to 100 kph timing of 5.7 seconds. Driving an EV is a very eerie feeling because there is sound, nor are there any gearshifts that you experience. That said, the Audi e-tron is fast and how. The torque comes in as soon as you hit the accelerator and the car shoots off like a rocket. There is no creep mode, so the e-tron wont move even if you leave the brake pedal in D. And such brutal is the acceleration that it can shame a few sports cars. There are a bunch of driving modes at your disposal, which include Off-Road, Auto, Efficiency, Comfort, Dynamic etc. The Efficiency mode works well when driving in city traffic getting you the most juice from your battery. Dynamic is perfect for spirited driving but will drain your battery more. Off-Road raises the suspension of the e-tron, and while you cant do hardcore stuff, it is quite good for moderate off-roading trails. There are steering mounted paddle shifters to control the regenerative braking levels. It’s fun to play around with those and you can even slow down using the pedals rather than pressing the brake pedal.
