Audi A6 45 TFSI Interior

While the exterior styling maybe not be too radical, it’s the interior that will wow you and how. It feels very sophisticated and techy at the same time. The cabin is roomy and there is the nice mix of light and dark materials including piano black surfaces and wood veneers. The brushed metal surfaces also add a very classy and premium touch. The new four spoke steering wheel looks funky and Im a big fan of the Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster. Right in the centre is the new dual touch screen featuring the latest gen of the Audi MMI infotainment system. While the upper screen operated the infotainment, the lower is reserved for the climate control. The A6 is the first Audi in India to get this new system, The graphics are crisp and everything works seamlessly. But because of the touch function, you need to take your eyes of the road when operating something on the touchscreen. You also hear a click sound once the button on the screen is pressed. While the touch functions et all are nice, the old school part of me wishes for a few more physical buttons and knobs. Also the touchscreens are prone to becoming finger print magnets.  The A6 comes with ambient multi colour ambient lighting that gives a lounge feel to the cabin of the once the sun goes down. As far as other features go, you get four zone climate control, electric blind for the rear sunshield, manual sun blinds for the rear passenger windows, a sunroof, wireless charging in the central arm rest and a fabulous Bang & Olufsen 3D surround sound system. You also get Auto Park Assist hand free parking but no 360 degree camera.

The driver’s seat and the steering move behind when you switch off the car to assist ingress and egress. The front seats offer great comfort with adequate contouring. However, they are not ventilated and that is something that is sorely missed. The driver’s seat does come with memory function though. Things look bright for the rear passengers too. There is lots of space with ample knee room and legroom. Taller passengers won’t complain about the headroom. The backrest of the rear seats feels a bit upright though, and it can’t be reclined either. Also the high central tunnel makes the rear seat best suited for two. As far as goodies go, the rear passengers get their own climate control, two USB ports, a power socket and cup holders in the arm rest. However, they don’t get controls to operate the infotainment, navigation from behind. The 530 litre boot has a lot of depth and will swallow a lot of luggage. The fact that the space saver tyre is tucked under the boot floor also helps.
