Ford Figo Aspire unveiled
Ford has unveiled the Ford Figo Aspire compact sedan in India. This sub 4 metre sedan will the first car to roll out from Ford’s new Sanand plant in Gujarat that was inaugurated today.
The new plant will have an initial annual production capacity of 240,000 units while the engine plant will have an initial annual capacity of 270,000 engines. This will cater to both domestic and export markets. The Sanand plant will start operations in single shifts with 2,500 employees and will generate employment for 7,500 people across Tier 1 suppliers and the rest of the value chain.
The facility is spread over 460 acres and supports stamping, body, paint and assembly operations for vehicle manufacturing and machining and assembly operations for engine manufacturing.
The Ford Figo Aspire will come with a 1.2 litre petrol and and 1.5 litre diesel engine. It will also get a 1.5 litre petrol mated to a dual clutch automatic gearbox. The new Ford Figo hatch will also roll out from the Sanand plant.
