Ferrari has introduced the new Handling Speciale (HS) package for the California T as an option. The package offers a variety of calibrations and set up options for the car.
The gear-shift logic for the Sport mode has been modified (both in automatic and manual), that result in faster, sportier gear engagement during both up- and down-shifts. These differences are underscored by a new strategy for the SCM3 magnetorheological dampers that increases their speed of response and improves their efficiency. The revised F1-Trac logic helps ensure even better acceleration, particularly when exiting corners and on more bumpy road surfaces. The HS package also comprises of 16% stiffer front springs and 19% stiffer rear springs which contribute to lesser roll and better body control.
There is a new exhaust system that comes with the HS package. It is designed with a new geometry that increases the exhaust note as the engine speed increases. The exhaust was developed in tandem with the engine and gearbox control software to underline the performance gains, with a more rapid response and improved sound and volume when driven hard. The exhaust’s new timbre is instantly recognisable as soon as the driver hits the Start button. It is fuller, richer and more involving at all speeds and in all driving situations. On the exterior, the California T with the HS package gets new front grille in matte Grigio Ferro Met and the rear diffuser in the same colour with matte black fences and matte black tailpipes. There is also a special plaque in the cockpit that indicates that the car is eqipped with the HS package.
The California T is powered by a 3.9 litre twin turbo V8 engine that puts out 552 bhp at 7500 rpm and maximum torque of 755 Nm at 4750 rpm. The car goes from 0 to 100 kph in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 316 kph. It features a retractable hard top which can transform the coupe into a spider or vice versa in just 14 seconds.
The Handling Speciale package will make its debut at the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show.
