New BMW X2 planned for 2017
The bosses at BMW have reportedly given the greenlight for a new sporty crossover which could be called the X2. This new car will sit between the second generation X1 and the X3 SUV. It will go on sale in the second half of 2017.
The new X2 will be based on BMW’s UKL platform which means that it will be primarily a front wheel drive but it will come with XDrive in some engine options. There will be a choice of three and four cyinder petrol and diesel engines and an M version putting out 300 bhp could be launched in 2018.
It will get styling cues from the X4 and X6 which mean will have a 5 door lift back layout and interiors will be shared with the next gen X1.
The concept of the new X2 could be previewed at next year’s Geneva Motor Show.
