The 2020 Hyundai i20 has launched in india with prices starting at Rs. 6.80 lakh going up to Rs. 11.18 lakh all India ex showroom. These are introductory prices.

The new i20 is 10 mm longer, 41 mm wider and while the height remains unchanged, the wheelbase has also gone up by 10 mm. Hyundai says the design of the new i20 is based on their new Sensuous Sportiness global design language. It gets swooping LED tail lamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps. The large front grille gets a unique parametric jewel design and there are projector fog lamps in triangle housing in the front bumper. The i20 comes with diamond cut 16 inch alloy wheels that sport a funky design. At the rear, there are Z shaped wrap around LED tail lamps connected by a chrome strip. There is an integrated roof spoiler and a shark fin antenna. Also its interesting to the i20 branding in the headlamps and tail lamps, a classy touch. The i20 branding also features on the black cladding under the doors. The new Hyundai i20 will also be available with a dual tone exterior option.

The new i20 is wider than the previous gen car and has a longer wheelbase too. That translates to more space inside. The cabin has an all black finish with red contrast elements in certain places like the door pads, buttons, and AC vent controls. The new i20 gets a new digital instrument cluster as seen in the new Verna. The centre console is dominated by a 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system features multi device Bluetooth connectivity, navigation along with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Other features include an electric sunroof, wireless smartphone charging with cooling pad, blue ambient lighting, a 7 speaker BOSE sound system with 7 speakers and an Oxyboost air purifier that also comes with an air quality indicator. The new i20 gets 311 litres of boot space that is up by 26 litres over the previous generation model.

The new Hyundai i20 comes with Bluelink packaged with 50 connected features that can be controlled via a smartphone app. The system can be woken up with the voice command Hello Bluelink and also features Over the Air Map updates.

The new Hyundai i20 comeswith three engine options. The first is a 1.2 litre Kappa petrol putting out 88 and 83 horsepower mated to either an IVT automatic of a 5 speed manual gearbox. The second is the 1.5 litre four cylinder 100 hp diesel with a 6 speed manual gearbox. The diesel will not get an automatic option. The third engine iis the 1.0 3 cylinder turbo petrol putting out 120 horses. Now that should make enthusiasts smile. This motor will get the choice of a 7 speed dual clutch automatic or an iMT transmission.

The list of safety features includes 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stabilty Management, ESC,  Hill Assist Control, parking sensors and a rear view camera.

The new Hyundai i20 will be offered in Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O) variants.  There will be 6 colour options and two dual tone colour options on offer.

Hyundai is offering upto 5 years warranty and 3 years road side assistance with the new i20. Also included is a 3 year blue link subscription.
