Leading Japanese car manufacturer in India, Honda, has finally revealed details of the fifth generation City sedan. While the nationwide lockdown has pushed the launch of the car to July, these details give us a glimpse of what to expect from this upcoming sedan. Competing with the likes of the Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Honda City will be launched in the month of July.
Talking about the exterior, the Honda City can be seen sporting a new design, with minor changes in its dimensions. This new model is 109 mm longer and 53 mm wider than the model it replaces. The wheelbase, at 2,600 mm remains unchanged, while the car is now 6 mm shorter in height.
Moving inside, Honda will offer features like an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Weblink connectivity, electric sunroof, full LED illumination, auto-dimming IRVM, rear sunshade, hands-free boot release, keyless entry & go and the works. Additionally, Honda will also offer the Honda Connect feature which would allow customers to have 32 additional connected features and Alexa remote capability. Safety features to be included would be a total of 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, TPMS, stability control, rear parking camera, auto wipers, auto headlamps and a first in segment LaneWatch camera.
Under the bonnet, Honda shall continue to offer its petrol and diesel engine options in BSVI avatar. The 1.5-litre petrol motor would also be offered with a 7-step CVT gearbox along with a 6-speed manual. This naturally aspirated motor will offer 121 hp of power and 145 Nm of twist. The 1.5-litre diesel, generating 100 hp and 200 Nm, will only be paired with a 6-speed stickshift. When launched in July, this new generation City will carry a small premium over the existing model, which will also continue to be on sale.
