Renault has unveiled its new sub 4 meter MPV, the Triber. The Renault Triber will be the first new vehicle to be launched in the last two years. Despite the short overall length of the car, it comes with three rows of seating, a feat that has previously accomplished by Datsun’s Go+.
The Triber is based on Renault’s CMF-A architecture, which is a modified version of the Kwid’s platform. It shall initially be offered in a 1L 3-cylinder petrol engine that issues 72 hp and 96 Nm of torque, though a diesel engine shall be available later in the life cycle. The car is available in a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automated manual transmission.
In terms of design, the Renault Triber has typical proportions of a utility vehicle. The body comprises of subtly contoured panels which are further accentuated by the use of plastic cladding to impart a sturdy look to the car. The bonnet is a warp around clamshell and sits parallel to the roof in terms of the side profile. The rear of the car is high and squared off, hinting at a significant headroom. Up front, there are knife-like three-segment headlamps that flank a pronounced grille. A single row of three diodes on each side makes for the fog lamps. The rear comprises of wraparound tail lamps and a faux skid plate. The roof is replete with roof rails which add to the sporty look.
The car is decently equipped with both safety and convenience. It has an 8-inch touch enabled infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which is bigger than the ones offered on all other Renault products. Functions such as Driving style coaching and Driver Economy rating have also been included. The second-row seats are adjustable and can be folded to gain access to the third row. All rows get dedicated air conditioning vents. The third-row seats can be folded to increase boot space by 625 litres.
In terms of safety, the Renault Triber comes with dual front airbags, passenger seatbelt disengagement reminder, over speeding warning and parking sensors. In higher variants, a parking assist camera shall also be included.
The Renault Triber is scheduled for launch shortly with expected pricing between Rs. 6 to 8 lakh.
