Mahindra is said to developing a petrol engine for the XUV500. The new motor will be based on the same block that is the foundation for the company’s 2.2 litre mHawk diesel. No performance figures are know yet but the XUV500 petrol will feature both, a manual and automatic gearbox.
There is word that the XUV500 petrol will be offered in a new G variant. A left hand drive petrol XUV500 with an automatic gearbox has been spotted in Dubai a couple of months ago. The XUV facelift is expected to launch with the same mHawk diesel engine but will develop 170 horsespower, 30 horses more than the current engine. The petrol variant is expected to follow later.
