The Made in India Jeep Compass has been officially revealed. Local production of the Compass will commence in June 2017 followed by the launch around August.

The Jeep Compass will be produced at Fiat’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune in Maharashtra. FCA has invested USD 280 million in this facility for the production of the Compass. The India plant will also be the only one in the world to produce the Compass in right hand drive. Jeep will export the Compass to RHD markets like Japan, UK and Australia.  The Jeep Compass looks like a smaller version of its bigger sibling, the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It features a slimmer grille with tapering headlights, squared wheel arches, large alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. The Compass will get the Jeep Active Drive SelecTerrain 4×4 system. It features a disconnecting rear axle and power take-off unit (PTU), in order to provide 4×4 models with enhanced fuel economy. Jeep Active Drive SelecTerrain 4×4 system instantly engages when 4×4 traction is needed.

The India spec Jeep Compass will get FCA’s “small wide architecture,” a fully independent suspension with Frequency Selective Damping in front-and-rear-strut system, and electric power steering.
