2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Ride & Handling

The core focus of the E-Class is ride quality and the soft suspension setup ensures that it is very composed and comfortable over most roads. The 18 inch alloys are an added advantage. Bigger bumps and sharp undulations will be felt if you take them at speed. Slight vertical movement is felt as well. Ground clearance is pretty good for what is a long wheelbase car. Contrary to my thinking, the E didn’t bottom out on any speed breakers that I encountered. The soft suspension makes the E-Class uncomfortable if you attack a corner in a spirited manner. Remember this is a comfort oriented car. The 225/55 R18 Nexen N’Fera Sport tyres offer sufficient grip and straight line stability is impressive. The lights steering makes driving a breeze, be it the city or the highway. It weighs up well too at high speeds. All round disc brakes ensure excellent and drama free stopping power.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Verdict

There were a lot of expectations from the new E-Class and it has delivered. Prices start at Rs. 78.5 lakh and while that is expensive, it’s a huge upgrade to the earlier car. It is loaded with tech and what’s more the range topping E450 makes it appealing to the driving enthusiast as well. It is also the only car in the segment to offer a diesel option with the E220d. Space and comfort is top notch and the car looks elegant as well. I just wish they had retained the removable tab for the rear passengers. That said the new E-Class carries on the legacy  of the previous generations and looks to set new benchmarks in this segment with this new iteration. And dare I say, it moves closer to the S-Class in terms of luxury.
