There is no doubt that the Volkswagen Polo GT is one of the most fun to drive cars out there in the Indian market and loved by enthusiasts. I too brought one home, and it has been my daily driver since the past four years. The Polo GT hasn’t changed much in terms of looks over the years, getting few minor updates now and then. And even though the car is a decade old in India, it has aged well. But what the 2020 Volkswagen Polo GT gets is a major update and that is a 1.0 TSI turbo petrol engine with a 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox. So is it still a hoot to drive?

We have reviewed the manual Polo TSI Highline earlier, you can check out the detailed review here. So as far as exterior changes go, I will talk about what’s different on the GT only. The front grille gets a GT badge and the ORVMs are finished in gloss black. The C pillar gets the GT TSI sticker which was present on the earlier car as well. I personally am not too fond of it and got it removed from my car after delivery. The rear features a larger spoiler finished in black, it looks quite sporty and there is the GT and TSI lettering on the tail gate. As I mentioned earlier, the Polo doesn’t look dated even today amongst newer hatchbacks and the classic European design is still pleasing to the eyes.

There are not too many differences on the interior as well. You lose out on the front armrest in the centre and along with that, the rear AC vents. The touch screen gets a black surround and I also like the seat fabric in this GT. The rest of the interior is no different front the Highline. Quality of materials is top notch and everything feels built to last. While there is a decent feature list like touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, rain sensing wipers, auto dimming ORVM etc. it does miss out on things like wireless charger, reversing camera, auto headlamps and others. You do however get connected car tech with the My Volkswagen Connect app that gets features like geo fencing, vehicle tracking, driving style analysing, vehicle tracking etc.
